Mixed sprouts pessarattu

I always run out of ideas for increasing the protein intake of my daughter. My oft repeated gameplan for now is to create dosa-like dishes for easy acceptance since dosas are her favorite food. So when I came across a pack of mixed sprouts at the grocery store my mind began to run wild with vivid visions of her slurping down a mixed sprouts dosa or pessarattu (yeah right!) Well, well, always worth a try.

Ingredients:
A small pack of mixed sprouts
A couple of coriander leaves
A pinch of asofoetida (hing)
Salt to taste
A spoon of freshly ground coconut (optional)

Method:
Coarse grind the ingredients in a blender. The batter should be thick (not pourable but spreadable -- makes sense?) Heat the griddle and take a spoonful and spread it like a dosa but make sure not to spread it thin. Leave it to cook on a medium flame after spreading a few drops of oil around and in the center. Each side of the pessarattu takes longer to cook than a dosa. Flip it over and cook the other side and then you know what to do -- pray hard that your little one accepts this humble, tasty and nutritious offering.

sprouts without cooking are the best, best and excellent protein, nutrient intake for kids !

Force them, if you've to, but make them eat sprouts twice a week atleast !

protein in 3 eggs with egg yolk = one fistful of groundnuts soaked over night (without frying or boiling)

so make sure, your kid eats one fistful of soaked groundnuts each morning, it'll take care of all her protein needs every day !

and in between, make sure she gets her sprouts too, raw if possible with some jaggery, to make it interesting !

I knew all these tips from a naturopathic way of living now popular in AP ( by Dr.manthena satyanarayana raju )

good luck !

also egg yolk has cholestrol and harmful fats, if it's harmful to you,( the yolk) its harmful for kids too !

there's no age differnce for cholestrol, it just builds up in your body and they get attacked by cholestrol by the time they're early 30's or 40's ... which is why people are this way in health, these days !

so instead of eggs for protein, try totally guilt free "groundnuts soaked" ! offer her with some jaggery,( sugar isnt good like jaggery or honey is)

... or grind the groundnuts(along with the water you soaked), mix it with honey + soy milk( or milk) and give it to her !

try following method 1, as much as you can , ie giving it with jaggery...force them if you've to,but make them get accustomed to good habits ! thats how I've been grown up, no matter what I cry or fuss over food, I've to gulp it, no matter what...the sprouts(yes, raw) , and raw veggies once a week !
beetroot + carrot juice each day ! I had to, no other option ! hated it then, but when I look back now, feel so proud of my upbringing !
